Steps for each browser for how the user will add * to their exception list for popup blockers:


  1. Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click Show advanced settings.
  4. In the "Privacy" section, click the Content settings button.
  5. In the "Pop-ups" section, click Manage exceptions.
  6. Type [*.] as Hostname pattern
  7. Click Done button


  1. Select Firefox > Options > Options.
  2. Select Content panel.
  3. Select Exceptions... next to "Block pop-up windows".
  4. Type under "Address of website".
  5. Click Allow button.


  1. Open Safari if it is not already open.
  2. Choose Safari > Preferences, and then click Security.
  3. Turn off "Block pop-up windows".
  4. (it is not possible to set allowed sites in Safari)

  1. Open menu (button with three dots).
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Content settings.
  4. Select Website settings.
  5. Select top row (with star *).
  6. Select allow popups.
  7. (it is not possible to set allowed site with a wildcard)
    Alternative is to open the popup-attempting URL and click on offered "Allow" button.


  1. Press the settings icon in the Home screen.
  2. Select Safari.
  3. Toggle Block Pop-ups option.
  4. (it is not possible to set allowed sites in Safari)
  5. NOTE: result of test on iPad:
    When popup blocker is disabled -> Safari keeps asking on the pop-opening page: "Allow?"
    When popup blocker is enabled -> Safari silently suppresses popup.

Internet Explorer

  1. Open Tools menu on toolbar.
  2. Select Internet Options.
  3. Select Privacy tab.
  4. Click Settings button in Pop-up Blocker section.
  5. Type in the "Address of website to allow" field.
  6. Click Add button.
